This is destined for the annals of the absurd: the UN might release its report on Syria next week. Here’s the punch line, from the LA Times:

Ban’s comments suggest that the long-awaited report, which could be released as early as Monday, according to U.N. diplomats,

and here’s the setup: the attacks happened on August 21. For those of you keeping track at home, that’s 2 days shy of 1 month. “As early as Monday”…WTF!?!?!?!?!

And the US’ response to this atrocity? The US actually makes the UN seem functional in this situation. Very very sad. (See here, here, and…well that’s enough pain for one day.)

Yes, I know this is a dog bites man story, but alas, some people don’t think so…
