Ron Johnson – of Apple fame and fortune – was supposed to be able to turn JC Penny around. He failed. The old guy is back in.

A lot going on in this story about the future being hard to predict, small data sets being used to extrapolate to future performance, the failure of experts to predict the future, the giants of yesterday being incapable of change and survival in the future, and so on.
