Biden says, “Buy a shotgun.”

But the Second Amendment isn’t about self defense. It’s about being well-armed and how that very well-armed-ness ensures a free state. It’s about being able to overthrow oppression from tyrannical government and how the very possibility that citizens could effectively fight against their government constrains government.

Biden – along with most Dems and all advocates for more gun control – needs to read AND UNDERSTAND the Constitution.

PS: lest one thinks that the Second Amendment is solely intended to maintain a well-armed militia to repel foreign invades, note this [emphasis mine]:

Rather, the Constitutional delegates altered the language of the Second Amendment several times to emphasize the military context of the amendment[75] and the role of the militia as a force to defend national sovereignty,[76] quell insurrection,[77][78] and protect against tyranny.[79]

Tench Coxe, “Remarks On The First Part Of The Amendments To The Federal Constitution,” 1789. (“As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people duly before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow-citizens, the people are confirmed by the next article in their right to keep and bear their private arms.”)
