Everything about this lack of gas tax revenues and the proposed solution (mileage tax) makes me laugh and cry at the same time. Tell me again why people think that government can solve problems?

Economics exercise: what is the friction (read: cost of collecting the tax) involved in either the gas tax or the proposed mileage tax? That is: how much money does it cost to even collect the tax?

An amazing waste of resources.
