Wired.com has a great editorial on many of the broader implications of Lance Armstrong’s anticipated confession on Oprah tonight. It’s all about USADA and WADA and a new war on drugs. I paints a picture that is just as grim as the current war on drugs. You know, the war that has devastated millions of lives in Mexico and the United States. Hard to say if the Wired.com prediction will come to pass, but the scenario is scary. Read it and hope it doesn’t come to pass.

It’s too bad that people feel the need to criminalize drug use, especially amongst professional athletes. The use of drugs, especially amongst professional athletes, can only lead to positive benefits for the health of society as a whole. And yet we criminalize it. We’re unnecessarily keeping our life spans shorter and quality of life worse than they otherwise would be.
