Everybody will respond in some way to Obamacare. There are consequences to actions. In the case of Obamacare, many of those consequences were not anticipated; many will be bad for the “average” American.

Red Lobster and Oliver Garden are exploring ways to ensure that their employees’ hours don’t force the companies to have to add their workers to health care plans. They are doing this by cutting hours.

“The test entails increasing the number of workers on part-time status, meaning they work less than 30 hours a week. Under the new health care act, companies will be required to provide health care to full-time employees by 2014. That would significantly boost labor costs for businesses.”

Health care or hours? Once you might have had a choice. Now you don’t. And the health care that you might get stuck with (because now you can’t choose hours) might not be the health care you want.
