Kids say and do the darndest things. Turns it it’s very hard to force kids to do certain things, like eat the kinds of foods you want them to eat. There is a lesson here…something about top-down not working…what is it? Oh yeah, top-down doesn’t work.
It’s funny and sad, because the administrators (at the school level, if not the national level) recognize the problem:
“Why would I come over here for a chicken and apple when I can get a cookie and some Gatorade and some gummies?” she said. “What would you choose?”
Indeed, what would you choose? And that’s the great thing about kids: even when they can’t choose, they do choose.
