A WaPo article on the Chicago teachers strike includes this nugget:

“Democratic candidates up and down the ballot depend on teachers to hold rallies, staff phone banks and canvass neighborhoods in get-out-the-vote efforts that often make the difference in close races.”

The only way to end influence in politics is to end the influence of politics.

Remarkable that you have a voting bloc of 4.5 million (that’s the size of the National Education Associate) that can be bought “simply” by giving in to their demands.
