Thanks Mark Perry for posting on this article regarding the FDA approving an at-home HIV test. Too bad it happened 24 years after it could have.

This is one of the chief problems with regulation: when it’s wrong there are no consequences. Nobody loses their job, no company goes out of business, none of the people that are dead now because they didn’t have the test 24 years ago can sue or otherwise seek reparations.

The market is elegant because it solves its own problems. Regulation is disgusting because it creates problems, prevents problems from being solved, and hides problems.
